The Frequency (Hz) and Pitch of Singing Bowls

The vibration frequency of a singing bowl determines its pitch (tone). Different frequencies affect different parts of the body and energy centers (chakras). Typically, the frequency range of singing bowls is between 100 Hz and 1000 Hz.

  • Low Frequency (100Hz – 300Hz): Deep, strong resonance, helps with relaxation and grounding.
  • Mid Frequency (300Hz – 600Hz): Balanced tone, ideal for meditation and chakra alignment.
  • High Frequency (Above 600Hz): Clear and bright, perfect for raising awareness and spiritual meditation.

The Size of the Singing Bowl and Its Effect on Tone

In general, the larger the singing bowl, the lower the pitch; the smaller the bowl, the higher the pitch.

  • For example, a 3-4 inch (approximately 7-10cm) bowl produces a high pitch (C6-E6) with a light, clear sound, making it ideal for personal use or travel. A 5-6 inch (approximately 12-15cm) bowl has a medium-high pitch (A5-C6) with a bright tone, which is perfect for meditation, yoga, and mindfulness practices.
